Blame It On Us

 The title of my poem is Blame It On Us. It is about how white people don't take responsibility of the things that they've done. I don't really have any inspiration for this poem. Also, the poem is somewhat like a dialogue. My theme would have to be ignorance and irresponsibility. 

Blame It On Us


400+ years of slavery

You weren’t even a slave, don’t blame it on us

Little to no representation in movies, magazines, and unrealistic beauty standards

You don’t even wanna be famous. Why does that matter, you can’t blame it on us

Stereotypes set for black people which caused us to rip away our culture and who we are so we wouldn’t fit into it

Okay, we have nothing to do with that, you shouldn’t blame it on us

What about the divide you caused between skin complexions, and whoever is the lightest wins and like usual the darkest loses. Do you even understand the generational trauma that we go through?

No, so there should be no reason for you to blame it on us

Alright fine

I won’t blame y’all for that 

But I will blame y’all for not seeing your own ignorance

I will blame y’all for not seeing how there are fast food restaurants at every corner in poor black communities 

I will blame y’all for not understanding why we are hesitant when it comes to taking shots, vaccines, or anything that the government supplies

I will blame you for believing white privilege doesn’t exist

I will blame you for not trying to understand why we are the way we are

 I will blame you for not respecting us and seeing us as less than you because of our skin

And I will forever blame you for everything that has happened before me and after me

 Hey y'all, I know my last post was supposed to be the one I made giving advice, but I thought that was so lame. So, this is my real last blog post... until August cause I'm definitely gonna talk junk on here about my next teachers.  In class today, we barely did anything because he was just putting in the final final grade. my partner was STRUGGLING

Spring break should have been 2 weeks. Waking up at 8 is garbage. I don't even pay attention in my first or second period, but I always know what's going on. Third and fourth period are usually >>>>>>>. Anyways, today we had to upload our sources in a folder, and the first few times Mr. Rease was explaining it like absolute trash. He gave us 10 minutes to upload everything, and I had to call my partner to see if she knew what she was doing. She didn't. So we're on the phone just complaining about how nothing he said made sense, and just trying to figure it out ourselves thennnnnn he calls my name and basically asks me if I know what I'm doing.  Bonjour you guys! Class today was boringggggggggg. We started class with a bell ringer, which was surprising because we haven't had one in 7 months. It was basically asking us what career field we'd like to go into and why. Y'all, I don't freaking know. I think about that on a daily, and I still have no clue what I want to do. And since the bell ringer was connected to the work period, I wasn't looking forward to the rest of the class time. We unfortunately have a project on the career we choose, PLUS WE HAVE TO PRESENT. How could a teacher be so extra on the last few days of school? This is crazy. The rest of the parts of the project are fine, but the presenting part is SO UNNECESSARY.
